Paul C. Buff, maker of Einstein and AlienBees studio flashes, is expanding its softbox line-up with the addition of a 14" x 60" foldable stripbox, designed for full body side and rim lighting, as well as overhead hairlighting. In a post on the company's tech-support forum, company founder Paul C. Buff said the new product was a response to customer requests. He said the product is still in the production-sample process, so neither pricing nor availability are locked in, but added he's anticipating delivery to begin by June 15 with pricing in the $145 vicinity. A 30° fabric grid will be optional.
The stripbox will be manufactured with lightweight Silver/Black fabric so it can be used in tight quarters on smaller light stands, and to ensure secure attachment to the company's AlienBees, Einstein, WLX, WL Ultra, Zap and Zeus lighting units. The unit will feature the same foldable design as the existing 10" x 36" softbox (pictured), which will remain in the Buff product line-up.
